How to Measure a Successful Product Listing with the Brand Report Card
Ecommerce is a volatile and everchanging landscape. Brands are facing new challenges with an expansion of the 3p marketplace across some retailers, new brands disrupting across categories, and consumers shifting away from brand loyalty to trust ratings and reviews. Based on the KPI's that indicate the potential success of a product listing, we created the Brand Report Card to help provide a 30-day assessment of a product listing's health. How does an eCommerce brand manager stay up to date on the health of their product catalog?
Reviewbox's new Brand Report Card provides a snapshot of your brand's health over a 30 day period. Products are and given a Pass, Average, or Fail rating.
Making the Grade: How are Product Listings Scored?
Scores are broken out based on service: Reviewbox for ratings and review management, Pricebox for price and inventory, Copybox for content management, and Searchbox for keyword search rank data. The Overall Score is the average of the scores. The next table breaks these scores down into actionable insights.
- # Reviews- the current number of reviews. Fifteen is the minimum number of reviews for a product listing to be considered retail-ready. Here are some ideas on gaining more reviews.
- Delta # Reviews- for a healthy listing, look for a positive number in the change in the number of reviews between the date the report was pulled and 30 days prior.
- Star Rating- the current star rating. You want this to be 5, but 3.5 or higher is acceptable.
- Delta Star Rating- for a healthy listing, look for a positive number in the change in the star rating between the date the report was pulled and 30 days prior.
- Reviewbox Score- the product's score for Reviewbox data!
- Map Violations- the number of sellers who violated MAP prices in the last 30 days. Ideally, this number is zero.
- % Ownership- the percent of time that the merchant owned the Buy Box for the past 30 days. For example, if your product is sold on Amazon, this is the percent time Amazon had the Buy Box. You want this number to be close to 100%
- Volatility- the number of times the buybox owner changed in the last 30 days. You want this number to be low.
- # Sellers- total number of sellers in the last 30 days. A healthy listing has a low number of 3p sellers attached to it.
- % in Stock- the percent of time that the product was in stock for the past 30 days. A healthy listing will be close to 100%.
- Pricebox Score- the product's score for Pricebox data gathered over the past 30 days.
- # Images- current number of images. To be retail ready, a listing should have at least 5 images. Click here to learn more about content and search optimization.
- # Features- current number of features. There should be at least 5 features.
- A+- whether or not the content for the product is A+. Products with A+ content score higher.
- Compliance Issues- current number of compliance issues. To keep the compliance score low, update the product's content.
- Copybox Score- the product's score for Copybox features.
- # Organic Page 1 Terms- the total number of terms where the product appeared on page 1 of organic search results in the last 30 days. You want this number to be high.
- # Sponsored Page 1 Terms- the total number of terms where the product appeared on page 1 of sponsored search results in the last 30 days. You want this number to be high.
- Best Organic Average Rank- this looks at the 10 terms where your average organic rank for the last 30 days was the lowest, then averages those ranks. A healthy listing will have a low score.
- Best Sponsored Average Rank- this looks at the 10 terms where your average sponsored rank for the last 30 days was the lowest, then averages those ranks. A healthy listing will have a low score.
- Searchbox Score- the product's score for Searchbox data.
- This column averages the scores for Reviewbox services for each product listing, giving it an overall percentage score. This is the best indicator of the overall health of each product.
- Cells that are shaded black indicate that you are not subscribing to this service. To see the best representation of your products and avoid missing data, upload your products to each of our services. If products are not uploaded to each service, a score of 0% is factored in, which lowers the overall score.
